Sophomore Studio Fall 2023

    For this assignment, I was assigned the word “status” and tasked to create a poster, packaging, and video with a visual language that represents the concept of status. For the poster, I wanted something that felt modern and touched upon the idea of social media. My main concept I went with moving forward was the endless pursuit of status. The premise being that status is superficial and only an appearance. 

Moving forward into designing my packaging, I kept these themes in mind and looked at logomania and designer brand packaging. I created my own monogram print for the outside of the packaging. I figured out how to print my own custom tissue paper with my design by taping tissue paper to regular paper and running it through the printer. However despite the fancy packaging, there is nothing actually inside the box, showing how status is an empty aspiration. For my video, I kept with the idea of striving for status and conveyed how people dream of status symbols. Swipe through the photos to see process/alternatives.
